If you ever wondered how to spell a C#maj.7/#11 chord or needed to improve in harmonic eartraining ChordLab is for you. If you ever needed books to figure out how to play certain chords on your guitar or piano - again ChordLab is for you. Have you ever played a certain chord because you liked the sound of it but could never figure out exactly what it was - well.
ChordLab 1.3 is a utility application that spells and plays chords correctly in music notation.
It handles all triads and common seventh chords. Additionally it shows piano keys, guitar tablature or guitar chord diagrams. No more fear of double or even triple sharps and flats. Where grammatically required ChordLab will take care of it.
The chords being polled can be displayed in the standard voicings:
Ñ closed
Ñ drop 2
Ñ drop 3
Ñ drop 2 and 4
Ñ drop 2 and 3
Chords can be displayed in any possible inversion.
Additional features:
1. Chord analysis:
This is very helpful if you know the notes to a chord, but don╒t know its name or how it is spelled.
Just enter the notes any way and ChordLab will search its libraries for you.
2. EarTraining Mode:
Excellent for harmonic eartraining but also a great game. Select triads, basic seventh chords, advanced seventh chords or all. With inversions or in root position. In Eartraining mode ChordLab will play the chord and patiently wait for your answer. You can follow you progress in the LIST window and see where you weaknesses are. You don╒t need a synthesizer for this to work or MIDI. ChordLab uses the QuickTime extensions already installed.
3. Chord buffer:
ChordLab keeps the last eight chords in memory and lets you review and or print them.
4.Balloon help:
Just enable balloon help in the help menu and give ChordLab a good swipe.
As you might have noticed ChordLab 1.3 is shareware. That means that in order to get everything out of it you will have to register your copy. Some items have been disabled for the shareware version:
Ñ Print
Ñ Chord Analysis
Ñ EarTraining Mode
These functions will become available as soon as you enter the registration code.
Ñ Guitar detuning
Known problems:
ChordLab 1.3 uses the QuickTime library provided by Apple (QuickTime¬ ⌐ Apple Computers ). A bug in that library causes sounds to not be loaded properly from time to time. The result is simply that sounds won╒t be played.
If you have this occurring don╒t worry. The fix is to restart your Mac.
Apple knows about this bug and is going to fix this problem in the next update ( QuickTime 2.2 ).
Legaleese:
ChordLab 1.2 costs $15.00 per registered user + 5% sales tax. If you have an email account, we will email you the latest copy of ChordLab and your personal access code. If you need us to mail you a disk a surcharge of $5.00 for S&H will be applied.
Please send a check for the exact amount and include it with the printed registration form. If you don╒t have a printer copy the information off this screen by hand. The check should be made out and send to:
